1. Quiver tree forest, Namibia

Location: Near Keetmanshoop, southern Namibia

Channel the sacred energy of Matobo Hills – the ‘Place of Benevolent Spirits’. Whether you wile away the hours atop Malindidzimu Hill or ponder the rock paintings of early man, here you’ll be totally at peace.

3. Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, Botswana

Location: Makgadikgadi Pans, northeast Botswana

These desolate salt flats, deemed to be some of the largest in the world, are unlike anything else you’ll experience in Botswana. Vast, austere and otherworldly – you’ll feel like you’ve landed on another planet.

4. Murchison Falls, Uganda

Location: Murchison Falls National Park, northwest Uganda

Watch as the mighty Nile blasts through a narrow gorge and cascades over the rocks in a spectacular display of nature’s awesome power. With views like these, Uganda’s Murchison Falls will leave you breathless.

5. Mountain gorillas, Rwanda

Location: Volcanoes National Park, northwest Rwanda

Relish the chance to walk among the great mountain gorillas of East Africa in their natural habitat. With so few left in the wild, seeing these majestic apes up close is a memory you’ll treasure forever.
